Sale 1384, Lot 76, Columbian Issue thru Jamestown Issue

5c Dark Blue, Louisiana Purchase (326). Mint N.H., with unusually wide top imprint selvage, deep rich color on bright paper, precisely centered

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A PHENOMENAL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT LOUISIANA PURCHASE ISSUE, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. THIS IS WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE FINEST IN EXISTENCE.

With 2006 and 2021 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98). SMQ value is too low in our opinion. Only one grades higher, at 98J (realized $14,500 hammer in 2017 versus SMQ of $7,500). Seven others share this grade.
